    Product Introduction
    During a round at Shangri-La Bay, you＇ll experience a variety of terrain, from cliffs and canyons to sand dunes and lush vegetation, while generously sized fairways wind their way around the property.
    Highlights of the front nine include the par-4 fifth, where the fairway winds around an irrigation lake and over a ridge to a blind green, and the short par-3 eighth, which crosses a canyon to a greenside in the dunes.
    The back nine certainly has some highlights, including the par 3s on holes 11 and 14, but it＇s the final par 4 that really stands out, starting with the cliff-top 15th (with stunning views of the South China Sea) and ending with the 18th, which has a shallow, grooved green perched precariously on a ridge.
    Between these two impressive holes is the 16th, which drops more than 50 feet from tee to green, and the stunning, bunker-free 17th, which some are already calling the ＂signature hole.＂ It then curves slightly to the right along the beach to a long, narrow green.
    Built in a way that has never been done before in China, Shanqin Bay Golf Course may be a benchmark for those yet to come. But this is China, where the government rules. In 2017, authorities planted thousands of young trees along the ＂signature＂ 17th fairway to cut down on the wind. The club installed a temporary par 3, but the bizarre move undoubtedly took the luster off a course that was probably destined to be Asia＇s No. 1.

    Golf courses (ex, in Southeast Asia) typically proceed with rounds even in rainy conditions. In most cases, players temporarily take shelter from sudden downpours and then resume play.
